1st Workshop on CyberC3 successfully hold in SJTU

On April 4-5, 2005, the first workshop on CyberC3 (Cybernetic technologies for Cars in Chinese Cities) was successfully hold in Room 512, Mechanical Building, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). This workshop was organized by the CyberC3 Project, which is funded by the European Asia IT&C Programme. The attendee includes European experts from France and Portugal, Chinese researchers from Tsinghua University, representatives from the potential application sites, teachers and students from the whole university. 

The workshop was presided by Prof. Ruqing YANG, Project Manager of the CyberC3 Project. President ShengWu XIE and ZhongQin LIN have interviews with European experts and discussed the possibility of the cybercars' application in the MinHang Campus of SJTU. Leader from the School of Mechanics, Prof. Guang MENG and Prof. LiFeng XI, attended this workshop and had a pleasant talk with European experts.

During this two-day workshop, European experts first introduced the latest progress in the CyberCars Project and overall technical scheme in the CyberC3 Project. Then, researchers from all the partners introduced their latest progress in development of cybercars. In the end, a simple demonstration was made in the campus.

After the technical discussion, researchers from both Europe and China visited some potential application sites in Shanghai, including the World Expo site in planning, the Shanghai Century Park, MinHang Campus of SJTU. 

The second workshop on CyberC3 will be hold in Paris at the end of June with a study tour in France and Netherlands. The main study visit is the pre-launch demonstration of the second generation ParkShuttle at Rivium Business Park in Rotterdam, a bus-like transport system with fully automated vehicles.
