On October 30, Prof. Claude Laurgeau from Ecole des Mines de Paris visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Prof. Claude Laurgeau is the Director of Centre de Robotique (CAOR) in Ecole des Mines de Paris. COAR was founded by Prof. Claude Laurgeau in 1989, which focuses on perception and control of autonomous robots, resulting in applications for intelligent vehicles. Ecole des Mines de Paris is also one of the SJTU's partners in the European CyberCars-2 Project.

In the morning, Prof. Claude Laurgeau first visited the Research Institute of Robotics located in the XuHui Campus of SJTU. Prof. Ming YANG from Department of Automation and some PhD students introduced their latest works on intelligent vehicles, including vision navigation, magnet navigation, control, etc. In the afternoon, Prof. Claude Laurgeau went to the MinHang Campus of SJTU with Prof. Ming YANG, and visited the Department of Automation. During this visit, Prof. Claude Laurgeau introduced recent research work at CAOR in the field of intelligent vehicles, including 2D ladar based environment reconstruction, vehicle to vehicle cooperation in the crossing, and RTMap software for robotics. Prof. Ming YANG introduced SJTU and main research areas C3 Group. After the discussion, several demonstrations of CyberSmart vehicles were given by the C3 group.
