2nd Workshop on CyberC3 successfully hold in INRIA

On June 21, 2005, the second workshop on CyberC3 (Cybernetic technologies for Cars in Chinese Cities) was successfully hold at Salle de conferences, Building 01, INRIA, France. This workshop was organized by the CyberC3 Project, which is funded by the European Asia IT&C Programme. The attendee includes Asian researchers and journalist from China, European researchers, representatives from the car manufacture industries, etc.

The workshop was presided by Dr. Michel Parent, Project Leader of the IMARA Group in INRIA.

In the morning session, Dr. Parent firstly gave a opening address; then, Prof. Ruqing YANG from SJTU, the Project Manager, gave a general introduction of the CyberC3 Project; next, researchers from SJTU and ISR introduced their recent R&D progress.

In the afternoon session, six researchers from INRIA first introduced their recent R&D progress on cybarcars, including collaborative hardware/software architecture, safe navigation with dynamic environments, the Fly algorithm. Information about the Project and cybercars was disseminated in this workshop, in the form of project leaflets, papers, news presses, and CyberCars DVD.

 

After the technical presentation and discussion, researchers from INRIA made several demonstrations in the campus of INRIA. One Yamaha AGV and three CyCabs were demonstrated.

After this workshop, researchers from SJTU and INRIA will go to Netherlands to attend the NetMobil workshop held in Rotterdam, and to visit the pre-launch demonstration of ParkShuttle II at Rivium Business Park, a bus-like transport system with fully automated vehicles. The third workshop on CyberC3 will be hold in Shanghai in the end of 2006.
